You're right -- we fans (and reviewers) often neglect the roles editors play in the production process of comics, an element I hope to explore in this forum more in the future. I know from experience that the relationship between a writer and an artist, especially in a self-publishing or small press effort, is critical, so I appreciate your input. If you can recommend any titles that I should review in "A Comic A Day," please let me know!

-- KaraokeFanboyKaraokeFanboyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16111034782315530527noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29139115.post-1162092253993763452006-10-28T20:24:00.000-07:002006-10-28T20:24:00.000-07:00I'm glad you reviewed and read my book, but I'm so...I'm glad you reviewed and read my book, but I'm sorry you came away with a negative opinion of me based on my essay. For the record, I have always believed in Greg and gave him his first work, which was at Malibu comics. I met him at a convention in Florida and tried to get him work but I had a hard time convincing any editors. I finally got Malibu to hire him to illustrated a story of mine. he did about three short stories there, I think.

Then, when Marvel started shutting down Malibu I formed my self publishing company which was a place I wanted to do new projects and revive Espers. Again, I gave Greg a shot because I believed in him. In fact, I taught him to use a computer and photoshop while he worked with me and now that's how he does all his art. But I talked about me in that essay because the company was my vanity press. There was nothing egotistical about that. I wanted to keep my rights having been burned by Harris over Harsh Realm. Image was the farthest thing from my mind. I went over 2 years on my own and then the Image deal came a calling. So I took it. I did not look for it.

It's common for fans to make assumptions about creators and for some reason they tend to be negative. But Greg and I are still good friends and he will be doing covers for future projects, I'm sure. I'm very proud of his success and it doesn't surprise me at all. It's those editors who dismissed him you should be griping about. I have always been a fan of Greg.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
